This ranch house was done while at Furman + Keil Architects. It is one of the first houses to pursue LEED for Homes certification in the central Texas area.
The house was designed to work with the site and our climate. Each room was designed to allow for cross ventilation and overhangs were designed to shield the southern windows throughout the summer and to only let in direct sun during the colder months of the year. Additional heating can be provided by the energy efficient wood stove. Materials in the house include acid etched concrete floors, reclaimed shiplap wood siding and local granit countertops.
