I have always been drawn to the intersection of architecture and environmentalism. After earning my bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, I attended the very first Greenbuild in Austin — an experience that shaped my career more than I could have known. Soon after, I became a LEED Accredited Professional before moving to Austin to earn my Master’s degree in Architecture with a specialization in Sustainable Design from the The University of Texas at Austin.

Over the next two decades, I worked on a wide range of residential and commercial projects before joining the U.S. Green Building Council and later serving as Director of WELL Certification, helping grow the certification process for the WELL Building Standard through its first 1,000 projects spanning more than 290 million square feet across 69 countries.

In 2023, I launched Kate Tart Architecture, combining architectural design, sustainability consulting, and training. Over time, I felt increasingly pulled toward serving my local community more directly. In January 2026, I shifted my focus fully to creating thoughtful, healthy, and sustainable projects here in Central Texas.
